A/C Filters 4 Less Announces Our Glasfloss MERV 8 Pleated Filters Now Achieves a MERV 10

August 27, 2015--Glasfloss is pleased to announce that our Z-Line Series pleated filter line now achieves a MERV 10 per the 2015 ANSI/ASHRAE 52.2-2012 Supplement Standard. The new MERV 10 performance will upgrade our Z-Line Series with no increase in initial pressure drop, no extra cost, and the service life will not be affected.

This is great news for customers of A/C Filters 4 Less, says owner Mark Platt. “The quality of life does not have to suffer from poor air quality. At AC Filters 4 Less our number-one goal is to make sure you purchase the best filter for you and your family. We stress the importance of changing your A/C or furnace filters on a regular basis and offer email reminders to ensure everyone is changing their filters in a timely manner. ” The upgrade from MERV 8 to MERV 10 means customers can consistently expect better performance and life expectancy without additional cost, something Platt and his wife and partner, Michelle, both believe passionately in.

The MERV, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, scale was instituted in 1987 by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) as an improvement over existing measurement standards dating back to 1968 for the efficiency of air filters. A MERV 8 filter is rated to stop particles of a minimum of 2.2-3 microns in size, including molds, spores, dust mites, hair spray and similar particulates and allergens in the air. These filters are often found in mid-grade residential and general industrial usage. A MERV 10 filter traps particles like Legionella, auto exhaust particulate matter and lead dust, sized at 4-5.5 microns. The latter type of air filter is commonly used in high-end residential and commercial applications, as well as hospital laboratories.

The reason this rating is called the Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value is because it represents the worst possible performance of the filter after testing according to ASHRAE 52.2. Therefore, it is possible to obtain much higher performance, but these filters cannot deliver less and maintain their rating. The MERV-10 rating means that fewer allergens and pathogens can get through the filters, reducing difficulties for allergy and respiratory ailment sufferers and improving the quality of the air considerably. By achieving a MERV-10 certification, Glasfloss pleated filters are now rated as “best pleated” under ASHRAE standard 52.2, which is also the specification that governs how air filters are tested.

This is advantageous to A/C Filters 4 Less customers because it means they get improved performance, reliability and efficiency without sacrificing the airflow, power or operational capability of their AC units. In addition, these filters offer relief to the vast majority of allergy sufferers, including people with sensitivity to mold and other airborne pathogens that call Florida home. "We work very hard to provide our customers with the best product for their home or office along with the knowledge to keep them healthy and mold free," said Platt.

A/C Filters 4 Less offers air filters for HVAC systems from some of the best-known names in the industry, including Glasfloss, Purolator, Flanders, Carrier and Trane, giving customers more options and making sure they get the best possible air filter for their needs. This customer-centric business model is taken a step further by the Platts. “A/C Filters 4 Less can save time and money with custom sizes delivered right to your door,” said Platt.

With the advent of the upgraded Glasfloss filters by ASHRAE, A/C Filters 4 Less is very excited about the benefits to their customers and friends. According to their website, “When air conditioning or furnace filters are changed in the home or office, the indoor air quality immediately improves. This will keep germs from spreading and promotes good health. Part of maintaining a healthy home or workplace environment, involves making sure that everyone breathes the cleanest air possible.” The new MERV 10 filters from Glasfloss help ensure this goal becomes a reality and makes sure people in both homes and businesses have the best air possible.

AC Filters 4 Less Reminds Consumers To Schedule An AC Tune-Up

A/C Filters 4 Less reminds consumers to schedule an air conditioning unit tune-up prior
to reaching the hot summer months.

With summer fast approaching and temperatures on the rise, many home owners forget to schedule an air conditioning tune up. To keep your home cool during the summer, the HVAC unit needs to be running efficiently. A/C Filters 4 Less wants to remind consumers to have their air conditioning or Furnace unit serviced and replace their AC Filters or Furnace Filters to avoid a breakdown during the hottest time of the year.

Annual air conditioning check-ups in the spring and HVAC furnace check-ups in the fall can help to detect any small problems that may have arisen. Although regular checkups will not absolutely guarantee that a unit will work perfectly throughout the season, they will reveal small problems that can lead to major, more expensive problems in the future. “There is nothing worse than a 90 degree day and no air conditioning in your home. We hear of these problems each year and want to help our customers avoid a meltdown.”, states Mark Platt, owner of A/C Filters 4 Less has some basic tips to follow along with your tune-up.

Run the air conditioner for a few minutes before it is needed. Waiting until a hot day can leave you hot and very unhappy. Change ac filters regularly. Dirty filters restrict air flow, reducing efficiency and can eventually cause the evaporator coil to ice up. Be sure all access panels are secure, with all screws in place. Clean obstructions such as leaves, branches, etc. from around the exterior unit. Be sure to set the thermostat on cooling mode. Just setting the dial below room temperature will not activate the air conditioning if it set to heat mode. For more tips and FAQ’s, visit our FAQ page. A/C Filters 4 Less is a family owned and operated business providing excellent customer service since 1980. Service is tailored to each customers individual needs by making sure they get the right type of AC or Furnace Filter they are looking for. AC Filters 4 Less Warns Consumers About the Dangers of Mold Growth Due to Inadequate
AC Filters or Furnace Filters and or Failure to Change Filters in a Timely Manor.

Many consumers may ask what purpose does the furnace filter and/or air conditioner serve in keeping mold at bay? It is important to remember that both Furnace Filters and AC Filters are in place to prevent pollutants from entering the home. This ensures clean air circulating in and around the home, which controls growth of mold. Because mold spores are very fine, it is important to choose the right AC or Furnace Filters and keep humidity below 50%. Mold can have a serious impact on your health. Mold releases countless tiny, lightweight spores,
which travel throughout the air, causing you to become very sick.

There are many filters for consumers to choose from that are made according to the sizes of specific mold spores that are found in the homes, which in turn will effectively get rid of the problem. A mold spore is approximately 1 micron, so finding a filter that traps down to 1 micron is ideal for the cleanest air. High Efficiency filters can remove at least 99.7 percent of airborne particles .3 micrometers in diameter. "We work very hard to provide our customers with the best product for their home or office along with the knowledge to keep them healthy and mold free.", states Mark Platt, owner of AC Filters 4 Less. Because filters collect pollutants, it is very important to change them on a regular basis (every 4-6 weeks or as needed) to ensure clean air is circulating throughout the home.

What symptoms do people commonly see with mold exposure? Allergies, infections, sinus, nasal congestion, dry hacking cough or throat irritation, eye irritation, headaches, fever, respiratory problems such as difficulty breathing and shortness of breath. There are some easy steps to follow to protect the home and office building from mold: 1. Clean air: the air conditioner or furnace can be thought of as the lungs of the home or business. As air returns to the furnace or air handler, dust, pollen, pet dander and mold (if the filter is high quality) are removed. 2. Remove the source of indoor air problems. Keep surfaces clean including, floors, counters, furniture and drapes. 3. Inspect the appliances: Have your AC or Furnace, gas water heater, range and clothes dryer inspected for leaks. 4. Ventilate the home or office. When weather permits, open doors and windows to circulate air and let fresh air in.

Electrostatic enhanced fibers are precisely structured into a progressive density gradient structure to enhance airflow through put with less resistance while providing high dust holding capacity and ultra-high efficiency during operational life. This new media structure enables larger incoming contaminants to be trapped in the pre filter layer thus allowing the highly charged secondary layer to attract and hold smaller particulate, thereby increasing the life of more expensive final filters downstream.

The Puorlator Merv 13 Pleated Panel Filters are an ideal choice to achieve the minimum efficiency requirements of Puro Green Design. The low initial resistance of the Merv 13 can contribute to an overall strategy of reducing energy consumption. The Merv 13 is as trouble-free as direct replacement for all residential and commercial applications.

The purpose of a furnace filters is to stop airborne particles and dust from entering and producing damage to the furnace. "In today's market, furnace filters are able to improve the indoor air quality by trapping dust, dirt, debris, pollen, smoke, etc. In order to maintain your furnace system while improving your indoor air quality, we suggest you look at higher quality Furnace Filters such as our Glasfloss Merv 11 and Purolator Merv 13 filters.", adds Mark Platt, owner.
