Discover Why Orange and White Media Pads Are Better Than Pleated Filters for AC Filters!

Orange and white media pads are the perfect AC filter solution since they trap more dust without reducing the MERV rating, unlike pleated filters. Pleated filters, on the other hand, can increase their MERV rating every week as air hits a flat surface. If you're already using a MERV 11 or 13 filter with no issues, stick with it. If you encounter airflow problems, switch to a MERV 8 pleated filter or replace the filters more frequently. It's important to note that a higher MERV rating might not be suitable for your unit due to design or airflow constraints.

What are air filters made of?

Air filters are crafted from various materials, each offering unique advantages and trade-offs. Here's a breakdown of some common materials used:

Fibrous Materials:

  • Fiberglass: Fiberglass filters capture large particles like lint, dust, and dander. However, they may struggle with smaller particles and irritate sensitive respiratory systems. These are filters with a lower rating.
  • Polyester: These synthetic filters deliver good performance at a moderate cost. They can trap more particles than fiberglass, like lint, dust, and dander, including some allergens. These are considered on the lower end of the rating scale.
  • Cotton: Natural cotton filters are eco-friendly and hypoallergenic, making them suitable for those with allergies. However, they tend to clog quickly and require frequent replacement. Cotton is mostly found in pleated air filters, which give a higher MERV rating.

Breathe Easier with the Best Allergy Relief Air Conditioner Filters

At AC Filters 4 Less, we understand the challenges allergy and asthma sufferers have with tiny particles in their system. Our MERV 8 orange and white media pads are an excellent option for people with allergies and asthma, better than many pleated air filters.

  • Capture Allergens: The MERV 8 rating traps dust mites, pollen, dander, and other particles, reducing allergy and asthma triggers in your home.
  • Customizable Size Air Filter: We can cut the filter pads to your dimensions, ensuring a perfect fit for any size air filter slot.
  • Improved Airflow: Unlike some allergy filters, these MERV 8 filters effectively capture allergens without significantly restricting flow, ensuring your HVAC system runs efficiently.

Benefits You'll Notice When Using the Best Air Filter For Allergies:

  • Reduced allergy and asthma symptoms from less contaminants.
  • Cleaner, healthier indoor air from reduced mold spores and household dust.
  • Improved overall well-being

Troubleshooting Tips

If the AC unit is not cooling, first check the thermostat to make sure it is working properly. If the screen is blank the battery needs to be replaced. Most people don't realize that some thermostats take batteries.

If the air conditioner unit is blowing warm air, the filter could be clogged or the safety switch on the drain line might have turned the unit off. The filter will have to be replaced, and the drain line my need to be serviced.

To keep the HVAC ice cold, it is best to change the air filters more often. We recommend changing the filter every 4 to 8 weeks or as needed. This will prevent the unit from leaking water or freezing up and will avoid spending unnecessary money on an ac repair.

It is also important to have a maintenance inspection done on the air conditioning system, by a licensed professional service technician at least once a year.

When searching for a replacement central air conditioning HEPA Filter for the home or business, it is a great idea to have the size, model number and part number available.

AC and Furnace Filters: How to Choose the Right MERV Rating and Type.

For residential clients who ask for a higher MERV rating filter, the first thing we ask them is what MERV rating they have been using. We also ask if they know whether their inside unit fan runs at one speed or is variable speed, with the fan running quietly or audibly. If it's a variable-speed fan, they could use a higher MERV rating if they maintain their coils. However, if the client doesn't know, I advise them to stick with their current filter to avoid airflow issues. Suppose they already use a fiberglass filter in the South and are satisfied with it. In that case, I maintain that or sometimes upgrade them to a poly filter, but only within that since I know the coils will already be dirty if they are using fiberglass filters. Those with a fiberglass filter up North need to stick with fiberglass or poly unless they have been using a pleated filter with no issues. Note that many furnaces cannot handle pleated filters, but not everyone up North has a furnace. They might have a heat pump that allows them to use almost anything, depending on whether the unit has a variable-speed fan and whether they maintain the coil. Furnace units are typically best for heating homes in the coldest weather, while every central air unit needs a filter. In hotter climates, people run their units constantly, necessitating more frequent filter changes. Additionally, older people up North tend to run their heat more often due to their age but may not change the filter as often. It depends on how well they maintain their system. Custom-size or strange-size air filters are more of an issue in the South than the North since people in the South tend to change their filters more frequently. However, we do receive some crazy large-size air filter requests from people up North at times.

We Make Custom Filters!

Custom ac filter sizes are made to fit specific sizes or shapes that are not available in standard sizes.

They are often used in industrial or commercial settings where standard air filters are not suitable for the equipment or space that needs to be filtered.

They can also be used in residential settings for specialized HVAC systems or for those with unique needs, such as allergies or respiratory issues.

Custom air filters can be made from various materials, including fiberglass, polyester, and pleated media. They can be designed to remove specific types of pollutants, such as dust, pollen, or chemicals.

We can make any filter size here at AC Filters Online. You can't get AC filters nearby that are custom created; these can only be ordered online.

Understanding AC and Furnace Filter Locations in Northern States Versus Southern

When it comes to AC filters and furnace filters, location is key. In the North, furnaces are typically located in the basement with the ductwork running up to the floors. Return air filters can be found in the floor, lower part of the wall, or even in the furnace itself. Heat pump units, more common in the South, offer greater flexibility in filter placement. Commercial properties in the North may have filters located in various places. In hotter climates, it's important to change filters more frequently to ensure optimal performance. Residential properties in the South typically have three or four options for AC and furnace systems, including split systems (the most popular), heat pump systems, and all-in-one package units. High-rises and commercial buildings may use package units or water-cooled towers, which require filters in various locations throughout the building. Stay on top of your filter maintenance for better air quality and HVAC system efficiency.
